Job Details

Meg is looking for someone with excellent skills in communication and social media content generation to support her work in Hackney South and Shoreditch and Westminster.

The successful candidate will be responsible for effectively communicating and promoting Meg’s work to all key stakeholders. This role is suitable for a self-starter who has a proven track record of delivering a comprehensive communications strategy.

The role is based in Westminster and Hackney. There may be requirement for the role holder to work outside of normal hours and travel for work occasionally.

Job description
• Analysis of current communications and development of a comprehensive strategy.
• Ensuring Meg’s work reaches a wide audience in her constituency.
• Turning casework themes, constituency visits, parliamentary activity and local campaigns into clear, resident-facing content.
• Generating (filming and editing) and promoting social media content and other communications including newsletters, surveys and media columns.
• Generating and monitoring local and national media content.
• Analysis of audience demographics and engagement.
• Writing engaging content for Meg’s website.
• Promoting Meg’s work and driving attendance at community events.
• Producing graphics, photographs and digital assets using tools such as Canva, Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut, Photoshop or similar.
• Ensuring content is accurate, accessible, professional and appropriate for a parliamentary office.

Skills and experience required
• Excellent filming and video editing skills.
• Track record of producing and editing video content for social media, including captions, subtitles and basic formatting for different platforms.
• Track record of promoting constituency and parliamentary issues to a wide audience.
• Excellent writing skills and proofreading skills.
• Experience and knowledge of working with local and national media.
• An understanding of how to communicate sensitively and appropriately on local and national issues.
• Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
• Good people skills.
• Interest in current affairs and sympathy with Labour Party values.
• Knowledge of Hackney or a similar area is desirable.
