Job Details
Sarah Sackman MP is seeking a Caseworker to join her excellent Constituency Office team in Finchley and Golders Green. The successful candidate will work alongside Senior Caseworkers to provide proactive, thorough, and compassionate advice and support to local residents.
As part of the team, the Caseworker will be a first point of contact for constituents seeking assistance with a variety of concerns. The role involves managing a caseload, communicating with government departments and agencies, and providing clear, accurate, and timely advice.
Issues you can expect to work on include crime, local government matters, and immigration. The successful candidate will manage a substantial caseload, focused on resolving problems through clear, concise, and effective communication with government agencies, local authorities, voluntary sector organisations, and other relevant stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with MP advice surgeries and other meetings, and follow up as appropriate.
- Attend constituency meetings as required.
- Handle a high volume of routine enquiries and assist with more complex casework from members of the public via telephone, email, and face-to-face interactions.
- Research and draft responses to constituents regarding government policy.
- Produce high-quality written responses to constituent enquiries.
- Ensure records are accurately maintained and information is managed confidentially in accordance with relevant data protection legislation.
- Ensure all cases are handled promptly, sensitively, confidentially, and accurately, in accordance with the wishes and direction of the MP.
- Log all cases, monitor progress, and ensure all identified actions are completed.
- Occasionally work outside normal office hours, including attending events with the MP when required.
Essential Criteria
- Ability to manage and prioritise a large and varied workload.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and written communication abilities.
- Ability to draft letters and emails to a high professional standard.
- Ability to work proactively and independently, as well as collaboratively within a small team.
- Commitment to the aims and values of the Labour Party.
Desirable Criteria
- Previous casework experience.
- Understanding of the issues affecting residents in Finchley and Golders Green.
