About the Role
As Policy and Public Affairs Adviser, you will support the Electoral Commission's policy and public affairs work in Wales. This externally focused role sits at the heart of policy, legislation and democratic engagement.
Working with Welsh Government officials, Members of the Senedd, political stakeholders and colleagues across the Commission, you will help shape the organisation's response to developments affecting elections and democracy in Wales.

Key responsibilities include:
Researching and analysing political, policy and legislative developments.
Supporting engagement with Welsh Government consultations and legislation.
Drafting consultation responses, briefings and policy papers.
Building and maintaining stakeholder relationships.
Supporting events and public affairs activity.
Preparing advice for colleagues and supporting post-election reporting.
About the Team
You'll join a supportive team leading the Commission's work in Wales. The team works across policy, public affairs, electoral administration, regulation and stakeholder engagement, helping ensure the Commission remains a trusted voice on democratic issues.

Who We're Looking For
We're seeking a politically aware individual with strong analytical, communication and relationship-building skills.
You'll be able to demonstrate:
Experience in policy, public affairs or stakeholder engagement.
Strong research and analytical skills.
Ability to communicate complex information clearly.
Experience building effective stakeholder relationships.
Strong influencing skills and sound political judgement.
Experience drafting reports, briefings or policy papers.
Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
Welsh language skills are desirable.
