Job Details
Join the St Neots and Mid Cambridgeshire Liberal Democrats at a pivotal moment. Local government reorganisation will replace the county and district councils with new unitary authorities, so a major round of elections is coming, followed by the next General Election. This role puts you at the heart of those campaigns.
You do not need to have done this before. You will receive full training and work alongside experienced campaigners, councillors and our MP. What matters is that you are motivated, well organised and get on with what needs doing.
About the role
You will grow our membership, volunteer base and fundraising, and help lead the campaigning that elects Liberal Democrats to the new unitary authority and increases our majority at the next General Election. Priorities are set by the local executive and campaign strategy team.
Key responsibilities
- Support the campaign committee in planning and organisation.
- Recruit, train and lead volunteer teams across doorstep, phone, online and delivery activity.
- Plan and deliver a sustained programme of voter contact.
- Oversee and contribute to campaign literature, and build our digital campaigning capacity.
- Manage campaign data, and volunteers who handle it, in line with data protection rules.
- Liaise with the regional party, neighbouring local parties and councillors.
- Carry out other duties your line manager may reasonably require.
You will also uphold professional standards and promote equality and diversity.
Person specification
Essential
- A self-starter, able to work unsupervised, prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Resilience under pressure.
- Confident communication, in writing and in person.
- The ability to motivate and manage a team.
- Sympathy with the aims and values of the Liberal Democrats.
- The ability to travel independently across the constituency.
Desirable
- Knowledge of the local area, its politics and communities.
- Experience of managing volunteers, running election campaigns and producing political literature.
- Good digital skills, or a willingness to learn Connect, Lighthouse and Affinity Publisher.
Workplace
Your week will be flexible, split between home working and campaigning across the constituency. Some evening and weekend work is required.
Closing Date: 14 August 2026
