Job Details
Claire Hazelgrove MP is looking for a committed and organised Senior Caseworker to join her constituency office.
The Senior Caseworker will support Claire to be an active, impactful and approachable MP. You will lead the casework function and work with a Caseworker to provide advice and support to local people on a range of issues.
Managing a large caseload, organising MP advice surgeries, and supporting relevant events, you will help resolve problems for local people through communication with government agencies, local authorities, the voluntary sector and other organisations.
Holding a senior role in the team, and working with others, you will collate and surface trends which can inform wider policy change efforts of the MP and team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the casework and wider direct resident support function of the team
- Deal with large numbers of standard queries, as well as leading on the more complex individual cases - by phone, email, or face to face - in a professional, confidential, caring and sensitive manner
- Ensure that each case is dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially and accurately in accordance with the MP Plan and organise MP advice surgeries, including identifying and booking residents in for appointments, arranging appropriate venues across the constituency
- Identify and surface trends and produce relevant reports on issues faced by residents, working across the team to support policy change and campaigning efforts led by others in the team on these, and reporting back to residents
- Support the Caseworker in their continued growth and development
- Work collaboratively across the team on relevant project work to help residents more easily access support and to highlight the impact of casework in supporting residents

- Ability to manage expectations in sometimes challenging circumstances
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as effectively as part of a small team
- Ability and willingness to work outside of normal hours and travel for work occasionally
- Discretion and professionalism
- Sympathetic to the aims, values and objectives of the Labour Party
Desirable skills
- Previous casework experience
