PoliMonitor is growing its content team and is looking for a Content Officer to join us. This is an entry level role with a particular focus on our Scotland content offering, following our launch this year of PoliMonitor Scotland, alongside broader UK parliamentary monitoring.
About the Role
You'll help deliver the political monitoring and intelligence our clients rely on, covering parliamentary business across Westminster and the Scottish Parliament, including House of Commons and House of Lords committees and Scottish Parliament proceedings. You will also support the continued growth of PoliMonitor Scotland.
You'll build knowledge across a broad range of policy areas that our clients follow closely, including energy, health, technology, transport and housing, alongside a strong grounding in parliamentary processes and exposure to the public affairs industry.
Key responsibilities
- Support the monitoring and summarising of parliamentary proceedings across Westminster and the Scottish Parliament, including committees, chamber business and FMQs, to keep clients informed of what matters to them.
- Contribute to the maintenance and writing of biographies for MPs, MSPs and Peers, building the political intelligence clients rely on to understand key stakeholders.
- Play a part in delivering coverage of key political moments, such as Budget day and elections.
- Work closely with colleagues across the content and wider PoliMonitor team to support consistent, high quality coverage for clients.
- Assist with the production of blog content and other written outputs as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience in a political setting is desirable but not essential.
- Knowledge of, interest in, or prior experience with Scottish politics or the Scottish political space is desirable
Essential Skills & Competencies
- Strong written English and close attention to detail
- Ability to distil complex political information into clear, accurate content
- Genuine interest in UK and Scottish politics
- Good organisational skills and ability to manage multiple pieces of work at once
- Comfortable working collaboratively as part of a small, fast-moving team, including flexing around key political moments
