Length of Contract: Permanent
Job Details
In July 2024 Chris Coghlan was elected as the first Liberal (not just Liberal Democrat) MP for the area for over 100 years with 5.4k majority. We are fast approaching the next General Election and it is to win again, to allow Chris to continue with the good work he has done. Politics is turbulent with the rise of Reform, so this role for Chris will be crucial to make sure we are ready to fight and win. The successful candidate will be employed under two contracts: one with IPSA through the MP’s office and one with local party. Together, these form a single integrated role working towards shared objectives.
Job description - key responsibilities
*Leading local campaigns: managing, driving and being proactive on hyper local campaigns ensuring Lib Dems in Dorking and Horley are visible, active and serving their communities. This requires working closely to coordinate campaign priorities between MP’s office and local party
*Inspiring People: Recruit and manage a growing team of volunteers, ensuring they are well-supported and placed in roles that suit their strengths
*Leading the Ground Campaign: Lead volunteer teams in core activities, including doorstep canvassing, leafleting, and telephone sessions
*Campaign Delivery: Work with the core team to ensure the local campaign plan is delivered on schedule and with high energy
*Building Capacity: Assist local councillors in developing their own local volunteer teams and community presence
Person Specification - what we are looking for:
*A Positive, Proactive Approach: You are resilient, goal-oriented, and thrive in the fast-paced environment of an election campaign
*Strong Communication: You have the confidence to engage with a wide variety of people and the ability to motivate diverse groups
*Effective Organisation: You are able to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively while supporting volunteers and candidates
*Values Driven: You are sympathetic to Liberal Democrat aims and values and are motivated to win for Dorking and Horley
Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). See Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO) page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
