Job Details
The Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) is the standards body representing the regulated betting and gaming industry.
We are looking for an experienced and highly organised Public Affairs Manager to join our Westminster-based team. The Public Affairs Manager will own the day-to-day delivery of the BGC’s parliamentary engagement programme, working within the strategy set by the Director of Public Affairs.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain strong cross-party relationships with MPs, Peers, advisers, officials and other relevant stakeholders.
• Identify political opportunities, emerging issues and reputational risks, providing clear recommendations to the Director of Public Affairs.
• Plan and deliver parliamentary meetings, events and engagement initiatives.
• Lead major programmes including the Grand National Charity Bet and Safer Gambling Week parliamentary activity.
• Produce and oversee high-quality briefings, correspondence, presentations and stakeholder materials.
• Track stakeholder relationships, assess sentiment and report on the impact of public affairs activity.
What we’re looking for:
• Demonstrable experience in public affairs, politics, Parliament or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of UK politics, Parliament and the policymaking process.
• A proven ability to build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders.
• Excellent political judgement and the ability to identify risks and opportunities.
• Strong written communication skills, including experience producing concise and persuasive briefings.
• The ability to manage several priorities and deliver high-profile events and engagement programmes.
• A collaborative approach and the confidence to take ownership of projects.
Experience of the betting and gaming sector would be helpful but is not essential.
