Metropolitan Police Service is seeking to appoint Non-Executive Director to the MPS Management Board. This is a unique opportunity to provide independent advice, challenge and support to the senior leadership of the UK's largest police service as it continues its ambitious reform journey through the New Met for London 2 (NMfL2) programme.
Reporting to the Chief Strategy and Investment Officer, you will join a small group of highly experienced NEDs who act as trusted sounding boards to the Management Board, bringing external insight, strategic challenge and specialist expertise to support effective leadership, decision-making and organisational performance.
About You
We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in:
• Organisational leadership within large and complex organisations.
• Transformation, reform or turnaround programmes.
You will be able to demonstrate:
• Significant board-level experience.
• A strong track record of leading large-scale organisational change.
• The ability to provide objective judgement, constructive challenge and strategic insight.
• High levels of integrity, credibility and professionalism.
• Excellent influencing, relationship-building and communication skills.
• A commitment to the highest standards of governance, ethics and public service.
• A commitment to MPS values and fostering an inclusive culture, with a track record of promoting equality, diversity and inclusion and ensuring diverse perspectives are reflected in leadership and decision-making.
Desirable
• Experience as a Non-Executive Director, Advisor or Board Member.
Place of Work and Time Commitment: Attendance at approximately eight strategic meetings per year, each lasting around half a day, in Central London. In addition, the postholder may be called upon to provide support and advice on a less formal basis as required.
