Job Details
The Head of External Affairs will design, coordinate and deliver Reform UK Scotland’s external affairs strategy, ensuring our parliamentary engagement, stakeholder relationships, public affairs activity and reputation management are focused, professional and effective.
As the principal link between the Parliamentary Group and external organisations, the successful candidate will develop productive, trusted relationships with elected representatives, parliamentary officials, journalists, business leaders, public bodies, charities, community organisations, policy groups and opinion formers.
Working closely with the Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff, MSPs and colleagues across the Policy Resource Unit and Communications Team, you will provide high-quality strategic advice, political intelligence and stakeholder insight to support parliamentary activity, policy development, media work and campaign priorities.
Operating in a high-profile and fast-moving political environment, you will exercise excellent judgement, discretion and professionalism while representing Reform UK Scotland at senior external levels.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and implement Reform UK Scotland's external affairs strategy.
• Build and maintain relationships with parliamentarians, public bodies, businesses, trade associations, charities, think tanks and community organisations.
• Lead stakeholder engagement programmes across Scotland.
• Monitor parliamentary business, committee activity and legislative developments.
• Coordinate parliamentary engagement and stakeholder meetings.
• Provide strategic political intelligence and advice to senior leadership.
• Identify opportunities to influence public policy and political debate.
• Develop stakeholder engagement plans aligned to parliamentary priorities.
• Organise policy forums, roundtables, conferences and stakeholder events.
• Represent Reform UK Scotland at meetings, events and external engagements.
• Prepare high-quality briefing papers, reports and speaking notes.
• Build positive relationships with journalists and media organisations.
• Support reputation management and responses to politically sensitive issues.
• Produce political intelligence reports and stakeholder analysis.
• Lead external affairs workstreams and contribute to organisational planning.
