Job Details

As Social Organising Lead, you will lead 411's social organising function - leading strategy, methodology, and delivery of programmes that help clients grow their movements and turn supporters into online activists. You'll oversee a team of specialists, delivering campaigns that are creative, scalable, and grounded in real-world organising principles.

The role involves building clients' internal organising capacity - training teams, developing supporter journeys, and designing systems that sustain mobilisation, working closely with client teams and Strategic Directors.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Strategy: Develop and lead strategies for clients, including supporter journeys and mobilisation frameworks.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of specialists, fostering excellence and collaboration. Line manage junior staff.
  • Ensuring high level of delivery: Oversee programmes, ensuring work is well-executed, politically astute, and results-driven.
  • Organising Methodology: Develop methods for online mobilisation, from peer-to-peer outreach to volunteer management.
  • Capacity Building: Design and deliver training that builds organising capability within client organisations.
  • Client Management: Collaborate with clients on their goals and provide performance updates.
  • Collaborating with partners: Build relationships with platform partners, tool vendors, and peer organisations, including unions and civil society groups.
  • Industry Trends: Stay up-to-date with developments in social organising and civic tech.
  • Travel: Travel as required domestically and internationally.

Experience

  • 3+ years' experience in community organising, online mobilisation, or political campaigning.
  • Experience managing a small to mid-sized team (line management a plus).
  • Political, union, or third sector/NGO experience is desirable.
  • Experience running social media campaigns.

Skills

  • Ability to translate organising strategy into clear, practical plans.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including training and inspiring others.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Confidence using AI tools to accelerate planning and scale organising work.
  • Ability to prioritise workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of another language is helpful but not essential.
