Job Details

Gareth Davies MP is looking for a Parliamentary Assistant who is a proficient communicator to join his team. The person in this role will support him by raising awareness of, and contributing to, his Parliamentary activities.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter, who enjoys producing creative, substantive and engaging content. They will also be able to exercise good political judgement, and use their own initiative to and problem-solving skills to both start and complete communications and research projects.

The applicant should be highly motivated and expect to work to tight deadlines.

Main responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Publicising Gareth's activities as MP and related news.
• Producing, updating and monitoring Gareth’s online content, including his website and social media.
• Producing online graphics and video content.
• Monitoring media coverage, liaising with the media, and preparing press releases as required.
• Managing and monitoring social media queries and comments.
• Undertaking research on relevant subjects as directed and assisting with casework as required.

Capabilities required:

Very strong IT skills, with proficiency across various social media platforms, are essential.
• Strong research, analytical and writing skills.
• Ability to learn quickly and work under pressure.
• Highly organised, able to prioritise and manage a heavy workload.
• Personal initiative and a proactive work ethic.
• Personable and able to work as part of a small team.
• The ability to maintain complete discretion and confidentiality.

Desired Experience/Qualities:

Experience in online content creation would be a strong advantage, including experience using graphic editing software such as Canva and video editing and producing software.
• Experience in graphic and design skills, including photography and/or videography would be an advantage.
• Understanding of the Grantham and Bourne constituency would be preferable.
• Supportive of the aims and values of the Conservative Party.
