Job Details

Adam Dance MP is looking for a highly motivated, politically aware and organised individual to join his team as a Communications Officer. In this role, you will play an essential part in communicating Adam’s work to constituents in the Yeovil area and will support him in his role as an active and visible MP.

You will work closely with the team helping to coordinate and deliver media and digital communications of Adam’s work in Westminster and his constituency, demonstrating how his work impacts constituents.

You will provide clear and relevant briefings and support to Adam ahead of events and meetings, which you will attend with him when appropriate. Actions include following up on actions & producing communications from these.

You will be responsible for effectively communicating and promoting Adam's work to all key stakeholders, and will also identify opportunities to proactively communicate on local campaigns, and help secure impact for him in the constituency.

The ideal candidate would have:
• Strong experience working in social media communications
• Ability to produce clear, concise briefings/reports and support
• Technical expertise in producing high-quality content
• Demonstrable experience in engaging different with varied demographics
• Able to work independently and as part of a small, collaborative team
• Excellent research skills with strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Key responsibilities:
• Produce targeted communications campaigns across a range of platforms
• Monitor local, regional and national media coverage and identify issues of relevance
• Monitor social media activity and provide insight on emerging trends and constituent concerns
• Monitor and interpret legislation, parliamentary business, debates
• Attend meetings providing support / briefs / follow ups
• Create, edit and publish engaging social media content
• Draft external communications, press releases and public statements
• Conduct detailed research and analysis on a wide range of policy and constituency issues

Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). See Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO) page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
