Adam Dance MP, Member of Parliament for Yeovil, was elected as the Liberal Democrat MP for Yeovil in July 2024, and is looking for an enthusiastic, professional and organised person to join his team as a caseworker (20 hours).

The role will be based in his Yeovil office, and is an exciting opportunity to join a friendly, supportive team and become an integral part of supporting consituents.

Responsibilities will include:

Dealing with a large number of standard queries by telephone, email or face-to-face
Managing and progressing a varied portfolio of casework, including logging cases, taking appropriate actions promptly and monitoring progress
Drafting enquiries to government agencies on behalf of constituents
Policy research on complex issues
Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant guidelines and legislation as appropriate in dealing with casework
Competent use of IT including casework management system & Microsoft Office
Accompanying the MP to advice surgeries and visits in the constituency
Essential criteria:

A good knowledge of Yeovil & South Somerset and the services available to local people
Strong written, communication and analytical skills with a good telephone manner and attention to detail
Excellent command of written English is required to produce high quality correspondence, representing the MP in letters and emails
Experience of keeping professional notes and accurate records
Ability to carry out tasks quickly and to a high standard
Highly desirable criteria:

Previous experience of working in a similar role
Flexibility to work on the occasional evening and weekend will be required, which will be compensated with time off in lieu.
