Job Title: Constituency Support Officer

Working For: Dr Allison Gardner MP (Stoke-on-Trent South)

Location: Stoke-on-Trent

Salary: £26,000-£28,000 (pro rata for 30 hours per week, dependent on skills and experience)

Length of Contract: 10 months, with the possibility of extension

Job Details

Dr Allison Gardner MP is seeking an enthusiastic & highly organised Constituency Support Officer. This is a varied, hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys no two days being the same. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Provide high-quality support to constituents by responding to enquiries and progressing casework.
• Draft correspondence on behalf of the MP 
• Support the smooth day-to-day running of the constituency office, including administration and data entry
• Assist with organising constituency visits, meetings, street surgeries, advice surgeries, leafleting sessions and community events.
• Attend meetings and events across the constituency with the MP
• Undertake research/prepare briefings to support the MP's constituency work.
• Build & maintain positive working relationships with local organisations, public bodies and community groups.
• Provide flexible support across the office & helping wherever required.
• Undertake any other reasonable duties appropriate to the role.

The successful candidate will be:
• An organised, dependable all-rounder.
• An excellent communicator with strong written English and exceptional attention to detail.
• Able to manage competing priorities/remain calm under pressure.
• Friendly and confident when dealing with members of the public.
• Able to exercise sound judgement, maintain discretion and handle confidential information.
• A self-starter who can work independently while contributing positively to a small, busy team.
• Passionate about delivering excellent service to constituents and supporting local communities.
• Flexible and willing to work outside normal office hours when required, including regular Saturday working to support constituency events, advice surgeries/community engagement

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
• A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
• Excellent organisational, interpersonal and administrative skills.
• Strong IT skills
• The right to work in the UK.
• Sympathy with the aims and values of the Labour Party.

DESIRABLE
• Strong knowledge of Stoke-on-Trent South & the surrounding area.
• Previous experience in a customer-facing, public service or administrative role.
• Experience of working in a fast-paced environment
