Job Details
Samantha Dixon MP is looking to recruit a F/T Caseworker for her constituency office (P/T may be considered upon review of individual applications - please state if not F/T).
Office-based in Chester City Centre, the Caseworker will deal with a large and varied caseload of clients who want help with a range of issues and policy & campaign matters.
Key responsibilities include:
• Assist surgeries and other meetings/events, and follow up as appropriate
• Deal with large numbers of standard queries, as well as assisting on more complex cases from members of the public by phone, email, social media or face to face. Ongoing communication may be required
• Draft responses to constituents, ensuring records are kept and information managed confidentially, in line with the data protection legislation
• Ensure that each case is dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially and accurately in accordance with the MP
• Gather relevant information to assist with resolving cases
• Log all cases; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken
• Help monitor and update social media and online presence in the constituency, dealing with queries in a timely manner; publicise surgeries and news alerts etc and produce online graphics and video as required
• There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of the normal working hours and travel for work occasionally
Person Specification/Skills:
• It would be desirable if the candidate has
1. Previous caseworker experience in an MP's office or in a similar role and is familiar with Caseworker.MP software
2. A good knowledge of the constituency
3. Digital communication skills/experience
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with high attention to detail, can work well under pressure and within competing deadlines
• Ability to prioritise tasks and to work independently as well as part of a team
• Experience of working with members of the public and ability to show empathy and patience
• The ability to work in a sensitive and confidential manner at all times
• Supportive of the aims and values of the Labour Party
