Alison Bennett MP is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic and hard-working person to join her friendly team for a full-time 12-month internship in her constituency office in Mid Sussex, with work in Westminster as needed.
The role has been designed as an early-career development opportunity. It would be particularly suitable for an individual seeking experience in public service, policy, casework and the operation of Parliament.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with research on a range of routine and complex policy issues
- Assisting with and learning how to manage casework
- Assisting in drafting responses to constituents
- Assisting with administrative tasks to support the smooth running of the constituency office
- Working with other members of the team on key projects and campaigns as needed
This roll is full time and will be based in the Burgess Hill office with work in Westminster as needed. Hybrid and/or flexible working is possible.

Requirements
- Able to travel to and from Burgess Hill
- Right to work in the UK
- Sympathetic to Liberal Democrat values and aims
- Fluent spoken and accurate written English
- Comfortable dealing with members of the public in person, by email and by phone
- Competent IT skills
Desired Skills
- Previous customer service experience gained through paid work or volunteering
- Prior experience of a public-facing role for example volunteering/working with a community group, charity or other organisation

Interview/Start Dates
Interviews will take place in Burgess Hill on 4th September with the aim of appointing the successful candidate shortly thereafter.
The interview will include a written task.
